Pros and cons of Hurricane: American Red Cross app for iPhone and iPad

Hurricane: American Red Cross app good for

Very Informative, at every level, when a Hurricane is approaching your area. ...
It is to early in season to review hurricane capabilities but rest is great and I enjoyed the quiz section.
Its multi functional use, ability to email others who may wish to know, and accuracy is superior to anything on the market
Although my county also has a weather event text message alert system that makes the ARC apps a little redundant, I like having these apps. Their biggest downcheck is that they are dependent on having some kind of data access, either cell or wifi. Thus, if you have no data plan, and youre not presently camped out at home/Starbucks/Panera/etc, well then, you get to be surprised when the tornado blows you & Toto away to Kansas. On the other hand, the apps provide some level of training & prep guidance. Also the built-in on-demand sirens are good for waking the kids up.
My family is getting a beach house, and I figured this app would be helpful enough. But it was much more then expected. I got free information that could help save my family, my friends, and my life.
Really helpful for tracking hurricanes, their paths, and projections and also for identifying Red Cross shelters in case of emergency. I only dont like that they dont put the name of the storm on the tracker. It just says the status. Some features arent really super useful on a regular basis, but the tracking feature is nice.

Some bad moments

When you try to open this app it just crashes. It needs to be fixed.
The Alerts are unreadable due to faint font. There is no option to select a color you can actually see. The map does not show any weather except a hurricane track. It doesnt matter which overlay you choose - the entire U.S. is totally cloudless, rainless, wind-free - none of which is true according to the NOAA. I stopped giving to the Red Cross. USELESS!
Too many, way too often repetitive alerts...becoming a nuisance, its ludicrous. Other than that, its an average app.
Cant edit alerts, received "ad" for blood donation in "this time of need", there is NOTHING happening; no natural disaster, no man-made disaster, no storms. Make your own choice, mine thinking of deleting.
Dont get it is total crap. It locks up and will not open or update. Tried to delete so I could reinstall, it wont even let me do that. Down load something else anything else but not this one.
Even the review page doesnt work. Wouldnt take my nickname and wouldnt go back to correct. Develop before publishing.
